Best New Bars No. 12: Harvard & Stone

« Back to Events

A WWII-era bomb factory is the unlikely inspiration for a place that serves artisanal cocktails made with local spirits. The front bar and performance space (which hosts music and burlesque acts) is outfitted in industrial-steampunk style; news clippings about Rosie the Riveter paper the restroom walls. Here “inbetweensters”—hipsters too old for the ChaCha Lounge but not yet ready for bed—are schooled in classic American potables. More seasoned connoisseurs head to R&D, the back bar with heartland decor (tractor-seat bar stools, chicken-feeder lights) where guest mixologists test their weekly experiments on willing guinea pigs. Good tip: Performances and bartenders are announced on the fly; the information usually posts on  Facebook that day. » 5221 Hollywood Blvd.,harvardandstone.com.
